WORLD TOURISM DAY
On 27 September, we celebrate World Tourism Day (WTD), an initiative of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO). WTD calls on the entire sector to work towards a future-proof travel industry, with this year’s theme focusing on ‘tourism and sustainable transformation’.
“Since 1980, this day has highlighted the importance of tourism for our economy and for our social and environmental wellbeing.”

The Impact of Tourism
While tourism drives economic growth, job creation, and cultural exchange, it also brings serious challenges: carbon emissions, overtourism, and gender inequality. This year’s theme, “Tourism and Sustainable Transformation”, is therefore not just a casual suggestion but an urgent call to action.
At SUITSUIT, we believe in sustainable travel. To us, this means a travel industry that is not only environmentally responsible but also socially and economically sustainable. And it will only truly be future-proof when tourism also empowers women: female travellers and women in destinations alike.
